I HAVE RECENTLY COMPLEATED AN INSTRUCTORS COURSE IN MY AREA IN INTERVENTIONS AND DISSINGAGEMENT AND WAS HORRIFIED TO BE EDUCATED ON THE FACT THESE BARBARIC AND ALMOST MEDIEVIL TECHNIQUES ARE STILL BEING USED IN ALL FIELDS WHEN THE SIMPLE FACT IS THAT THERE ARE BETTER ALTERNATIVES! LETS HOPE THE GOVERNMENT AND OTHER BODIES SEE THE LIGHT AND REALISE SOON THAT A PROACTIVE AND HOLISTIC APPROCH HAS TO BE BETTER THAN DEATH |

Hi everyone, I totally understand why you've created this charter however my concern as a physical interventions trainer is that if we ban prone restraint full stop we could be potentially making things worse. Isn't it better to train staff appropriately around the risks of restraint rather than banning one element of it. People have died in postions other than prone and we should have the understanding that all restraint carries risk rather than just focusing on prone?

I have done Studio 3 and Scip-r, the first thing that struck me was the amount of compasion and empathy involved in both courses. however i realise that not all training is client centred. but why!!!!????!
Good luck guys!
